It’s not often I see two people share such a passion for life and for each other. Flick & Joseph have such an infectious playfulness about them, which is a wonderful counterpart to their attentive kindness. This day was one of palpable joy, continuous laughter, and a pouring out of love from everyone in attendance. All this was augmented by the spectacular location they chose for their ceremony and reception – Slide Ranch – which is perched on a cliff high above the Pacific ocean near Muir Beach, CA. All the rustic charm and rugged beauty gave the entire affair a wonderful backdrop of peaceful grandeur. Some stories are especially fun and meaningful to tell – and this was certainly one. It was such a pleasure being a part of this day, congrats to these two, and I hope you enjoy a few of my favorite moments from the day!

Pratishtha + Kartik – Engaged | San Diego, CA

For their engagement photos, Pratishtha & Kartik decided they wanted to get away together to a beautiful spot with beaches and grand views of the ocean. They of course made the perfect choice and came to San Diego, where they got all of that and also a gorgeous day and typically delightful SD sunset. They spent the whole afternoon laughing together and enjoying the warm, sunny day. It was so much fun spending this time with them and I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from our time exploring the coast!

Stephanie + Alex – Married | San Diego, CA

Everything about this day was fun and beautiful. Stephanie & Alex chose The La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, CA as the destination spot for their wedding. It has a wonderful historic, almost old Hollywood vibe, with a maze of hallways all leading to fabulous ocean views. Everywhere the wedding day took us, beauty and style hung in the backdrop. One of my favorite parts of telling a wedding day story is spending time with the couple as they experience all the excitement and emotion of what’s going on around them. That is especially fun with two people like Stephanie & Alex, who are so relaxed together and who enjoy each other’s company so much. Throughout the day, so many people close to them spoke about the strength of their partnership and just how much they laugh together. Capturing laughter is another thing that I love, and there was no shortage of that this day either. With so many fun and personal details, like the mariachi band and their party favor maracas, their personalities and playfulness came through in every part of this celebration. Congrats to these two lovely people! Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Jordan + Sarah – Married | Madison, VA

Being with Jordan & Sarah on their wedding day made me reflect on how lucky I am that my work brings me astride so many amazing people at such a happy moment in their lives. The fact that I get to tell their stories of partnership, adventure, and joyful beginnings adds tremendously to the gratitude I feel.

Jordan & Sarah’s warmth and hospitality was so evident even the very first time I spoke with them, and I was so excited when they invited me to fly all the way across the country to join them at a beautiful vineyard in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Being present to capture this wedding was also a special honor because Jordan is a talented photographer himself, and having another artist trust me with capturing his day was such a privilege.

This was such an awesome celebration and I wish so much happiness and joy to these two. Thank you Jordan & Sarah and congratulations!

Guthrie Ciderworks – Business Storytelling

I recently had the pleasure of doing some Business Storytelling for an awesome new San Diego-based cider maker, Guthrie Ciderworks. Owned by Horacio & Sarah Devoto, a super friendly and innovative husband & wife team, Guthrie Ciderworks offers a uniquely Southern California take on dry cider. They currently brew two distinct ciders, a dry and a semi-dry, both of which are available either via bottle or on tap at numerous San Diego restaurants and tap rooms. Their cidery is located in Miramar in a beautifully converted industrial space with towering ceilings and a series of large, shimmering fermentation tanks. In addition to acting as their main production facility, they also have some exciting plans to convert some of the space into a fully functioning tap room.

Every business has an important set of values, goals, and a strong human component behind the products they sell or services they provide. I love working with businesses both large and small to create images that convey these deeper stories. In our image-heavy marketplace, quality visual storytelling is essential to connecting with customers and sharing brand identity.
